September 2025 Summary

Another month goes by, another summary follows. The podcast, books and other media I enjoyed during September!

Honestly, some times it’s easy to think how time goes so fast and it’s flying and it feels like nothing has changed and you’ve barely done anything. And then you look at the stats and the time spent on one thing or another, and the people around or those that are no longer there, and you kind of realize maybe life is just going at its own pace and worrying about it doesn’t help that much.

A lot happened during September. We celebrated another year of my mother’s life, we moarned the loss of someone close to us, we keep on living and trying to go as best as we can.

Today, it’s time to write down all the media I’ve enjoyed (or not!) throughout the month! It’s been pretty busy on that regard as well so, let’s get started!

Podcasts

I only listened to 48 hours of podcast, that’s the second lowest this year! The reason? Unsure, I haven’t listened as much during work, and I didn’t sleep with a podcast playing throughout many days. Regardless, here’s the list!

  • The Ten Minute Bible Hour - I’m surprised this one took the crown this month, I was sure it would stay the same as ever, but hey, this won by a whole hour somehow.
  • Into The Aether - This is usually the top spot! But I guess I haven’t listened to any backlog episodes in a while, and the regular ones have been fairly short lately.
  • Welcome to Night Vale - Been checking out some newer episodes, there is this very 4th wall breaking one featuring the writer of the show getting trapped inside and it was very strange!
  • Wolf 359 - I am still chipping away and finished Season 2, just beginning Season 3 now, and things are getting intense.
  • The Rest is History - It’s been a while since this one showed up, but I started their recent series about Greek Myths to keep me excited about Hades 2.

Books

I was on a roll this month when it comes to reading, I just wish I had completed Overscan since it’s pretty short! But things happen.

Completed

  • Nemesis Games - This was a departure when it comes to the narrative style and the points of view compared to previous book, it was really really good, probably my favorite of the series, actually.
  • All Systems Red - The beginning of Murderbot! It felt really short in hindsight, but it introduced the character and I quite enjoyed it!
  • Artificial Condition - The second Murderbot! Really loved the new character dynamics and how the story went, some interesting stuff happened and quite a bit of action too.
  • Rogue Protocol - There was a lot of action here compared to the others, but I still really liked how Murderbot’s motivations (and the general plot) have evolved over time.
  • Hollow Knight Wanderer’s Journal - Just a really nice book with art and lore, not that many chunks of text so I devoured it in a day. Really good for any fan of the games!

Ongoing

  • Babylon’s Ashes - The next book of The Expanse had managed to be rather awesome! I’ve read a third of it in a week, and I really like the direction it’s going.
  • Overscan - A short story anthology that I got physically earlier in the month, I stopped reading in the middle of it and for some reason I never continued it. I’ll definitely finish it by the end of this week.
  • The Princess and the Goblin - An old children’s book, with some fantasy themes and the like. I started it on a whim and I’ve found it quite engaging from what I’ve read, although it has some dated elements, it’s not bad.

Games

Somehow, I’ve both played a lot of videogames while also reading a bit, I didn’t think such a thing was possible, but here we are! No completed games this time, but it’s alright.

Ongoing

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong - I bought this game on day one, and I’ve been playing it since then for almost 50 hours. This is an amazing journey and I have enjoyed everything about it. Sure there’s been some rough moments here or there, but that’s the point! I’ve loved it so far.
  • Slice & Dice - A roguelike I bought on a whim because I had a couple real life friends obsessed with it. After Sotolf got into it too, I just had to give it a go, and this has become the perfect game for any dead times everywhere, and can be played vertically! Simply perfect.
  • Ys I & II Chronicles - I was supposed to be playing this on my PSP alongside whatever I played on my Nintendo Switch, but I ended up kind of abandoning it pretty early on, might return, might choose something else.
  • Hyper Light Drifter - This is a beautiful game, but it also kind of scares me, everytime I bring it up is because I am playing it with a friend, and it’s pretty fun to do co-op while still rather difficult. Only played it one day but it’s always worth it.
  • Idle Slayer - I did start this one, and I open it once a week or so, but it’s just an idle game, numbers go up. It has some tricks up its sleeve that I am yet to experience.
  • Super Mario Bros Wonder - I did reach credits months ago for this, but I played it a bit with friends.
  • Ultimate Chicken Horse - Played when some friends came visit.

Manga

This was a relatively chill month when it comes to the variety I read, however, I read a lot of chapters of these!

Ongoing

  • Ariadne in the Blue Sky - Up to chapter 127. This story has developed so much. This world is awesome, filled with different races of characters and a power system that has managed to stay pretty interesting despite its simplicity. The story has been really good, with many reveals lately that change the outlook of the whole thing, I am really liking it! I only have 90 chapters left to reach the finale, it may happen during October!
  • Chainsaw Man - Up to chapter 214. I literally read more than 100 chapters of this. After it ended many years back and then begun with a new continuation to the story, I wanted to wait to see how it was. It’s still Chainsaw Man, and I got caught up to it in a couple of days, welp.

Movies

  • Alien: Romulus - This movie was kind of awesome, it’s just an amalgamation of everything the Alien franchise has to offer, both old and new and with an amazing coat of paint. Incredible VFX, combinining both practical, tangible scenarios, suits and puppets, with computer graphics for the space sequences and to embelish the rest. I quite enjoyed this new beginning, I must say, even if all the characters but the protagonist die in dumb ways, it’s all just part of being a side character on these movies. Good stuff.
  • The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Watched this at the movies and I thought it was pretty cool! I really enjoyed the character dynamics and loved that one scene in space. It was awesome. I think there are a couple of weird decisions and convenient moments, but really enjoyed it overall.
  • Along Came a Spider - A pretty classic thriller with really cool plot twists and a very weird but memorable early CGI scene. I thought it was alright.
  • Alien vs Predator - I realized this is directed by the same guy who did the Resident Evil movies, and now everything makes sense. This was a weird one, but very fun, definitely not canon, and maybe too gory at times, but still, the fact it exists brings me joy. Just imagining the fans looking at both of these franchises clash for the first time, it was probably awesome.

Anime and Shows

  • Alien Earth - I’ve been really enjoying this show! It’s been weird, but engaging, and the dread of what’s to come is always lingering when I watch it. Somehow I’ve not been able to watch the last episode, but I am eager to get to it soon. Maybe by the end of this week I’ll have the time at last.
  • Record of Ragnarok Season 2 - Started this one on a whime where I didn’t feel like gaming or reading. An anime where humanity and the gods from different cultures fight each other in a tournament! It’s honestly just amusing to watch. There’s only five episodes left before I finish the season!

Screen time

I barely used my computer this month, I just preferred to play Silksong, or read, or use my phone, so yeah.

Phone

I used my phone for 101 hours, apparently, there were some discrepancies because I am now using my work profile to have some proprietary apps and games, but yeah, it’s just a rough estimate to be honest.

  • Mihon for 12 hours
  • Fennec for 11 hours
  • Discord for 10 hours
  • Tusky for 8 hours
  • Signal for 8 hours

  • The Princes and the Goblin for 11 minutes, 9 pages
  • Nemesis Games for 3:14 hours, 194 pages
  • Artificial Condition for 3:30 hours, 181 pages
