Mostly Rockbox theming, and a dog shower - W45

Here are my weeknotes from November 4 to 10, 2025!

Week 45 of the year is upon us! And that’s not something very strange, however, this is also the one year anniversary of my weeknotes!

I should probably write a blog post about that. In fact, I probably will, I didn’t even realize until I was done writing this post and noticed there was no introduction yet, what a journey huh? But well, in a sense, it’s just another week!

  • 📻 I have been working on my Innioasis Y1, installed Rockbox on it, and did a lot of stuff after yesterday’s post:
    • AdwaitaPod—the theme I’m using on Rockbox—was upscaled but doesn’t look smooth at all, so I wanted to fix it.
    • I recreated every asset using Inkscape (to create them), GIMP (for small pixel-based modifications) and ImageMagick (to export to BMP in the correct format)
    • I remade the icon pack based on Arcticons, some new, some modified. Given the smaller size I changed the stroke-width to 2px.
    • I am yet to figure out adding CJK support to the Cantarell font, for now I use a different one with CJK built-in.
    • I contacted the original maintainer and I got given the font files so I’ll get working on it this week!
  • ⛄ The mornings are starting to get quite cold recently. Not super cold, it’s only about 7°C, but walking through the field is extremely cold due to the plants around the path cooling the air even more.

  • 🏋️ After the short vacation I took I am yet to step foot at the gym, I plan to go today and try to get a grip on this again. It’s so difficult to go back, but once I’m in I know things will be alright, I hope so at least, since Christmas season is upon us and really good food is coming!

  • 💬 Some Signal scammer has been messaging me for a few days and pretending to be some normal person chatting about stuff, but they keep sending me photos like “look what I cooked” and such that I can easily find online, I am not even answering now and I should just block them but it’s kinda funny.

  • 🐕 We gave the dogs a shower, it had been ages since last time but with the colder weather coming soon we thought it was a good time to get around to it. Both dogs immediately proceeded to roll on the dirt and grass after we were done, evil stuff.
    • The dog who had gotten in a car accident is fine, but he still refuses to use his leg, it’s not broken or anything, so after asking another vet we will be using a leg brace to see if it helps.
  • 💇 I really need to get a haircut soon, for one reason or another I just keep on not doing it and my hair is becoming a bit of a mess, I don’t like to take care of it that much so I’ll get it cut this week.

🕹️ Gaming

I only played CrossCode for like 20 minutes total. I lost all my momentum for some reason, although I recovered some of it playing with friends on the weekend.

The game I tried in 2-player was Streets of Rage, the Sega Genesis version on Nintendo Switch. it was interesting, fun and simple beat’em up action, the jank and slow walking speed barely bothered me. The only bad thing was playing it with joycons instead of having an arcade stick or something, we got to stage 5 but decided to swap games once more people showed up to play.

That’s when I returned to Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, we managed to beat a few levels and beat the castle at World 5, we made it a couple levels into World 6 as well, although I didn’t get all the stickers nor stars (my friends were just rushing through the stages!) so I’ll take some time for that on my own, maybe.

📺 Watching

  • Predator: Badlands - Went to the movies to watch this one, it was a bit of a random pick in the moment but it paid off, I think. Unlike other entries, this time the focus is on the predator. The weakest memeber of a clan decides to face off against the most dangerous prey in an extremely hostile planet, there he ends up teaming up with a broken android (connecting once again the Alien and Predator franchises) to find and take down it’s trophy. There are a couple twists here that I didn’t see coming, I enjoyed the character dynamics. It’s a movie filled with rule of cool in the best of ways. I liked it!

  • George & Mandy: First Marriage - Back home, the second season of this show is finally airing on HBO Max. We just put it on, turn off our brains a bit and have fun at the sitcom family drama stuff. It’s nice to be back I must say, can’t really praise it or hate it much, I definitely laugh a lot though.

📖 Reading

  • Exit Strategy - Continuing with my bad run of reading, I pretty much only reached the end of chapter 1 of this book, and not much else. I am sorry to dissapoint you all.

  • Ariadne in the Blue Sky - I finally finished this manga, and I must say I really, really enjoyed it! The finale was actually better than I thought, it felt somewhat rushed, but it was like that for around 30 chapters or so, not just in 5 chapters making no sense, like I feared it could be, it is an ending I didn’t expect, and even if some questions weren’t answered, I think it was pretty good overall. It had been a while since I had finished a manga properly, I think the last one was in January? so, this was quite epic.

  • Blue Lock - Read up to chapter 318. I’ve returned to this after finishing Ariadne, and I may end up catching up on a bunch of other ongoing series now that I’ve left some chapters building up. The current match from the U-20 team against Nigeria has been quite interesting! Pretty much all the players leveled up their skills after a well deserved break, and it shows!
