Some times I really feel like all these week notes do is work as a way to keep track of every time I fall into consumerism, and this is definitely one of those times. At least I’ve managed to not buy any videogames this week, so that’s something!

🧑💻 This was a fairly busy week at work, with some new equipment that needed quite a bit of my time to get set up. Thankfully, everything worked out in the end, and I didn’t have to stay overtime at all, so I can’t complain much, some pressure from time to time it’s good, so I had fun.

🛍️ I ordered a few (okay, maybe a lot) of pins a couple weeks ago from AliExpress, and they finally arrived on Saturday. From Zelda to Metroid to Hollow Knight and Godzilla. I probably bought way too many compared to the amount of places I can actually put them on. In any case, my backpack has four pins on it now, and maybe I’ll swap them every once in a while.

📦 Many months ago I had a moment of weakness, I ended up buying stuff from
lttstore dot com
, since they had a promo with free shipping worldwide, which was what always stopped me because it’s so expensive! For some reason the package never arrived within the expected time frame, and the shipping label dissapeared. I sent an email and they quickly got back and replaced the package, and now it’s here! I got the extremely fidgetable Scribedriver, the also extremely fidgetable precision screwdriver, a hoodie, a notebook, and stickers, oops. -
🛒 My mom wanted me to buy her a book, so I did, but I noticed that shop offered some fountain pens as well, so I decided to get a couple of the cheap ones and try those out!—but didn’t you already buy a pen a paragraph ago?—I KNOW!

🏎️ Remember how I cleaned up my room the other week? Well one of the finds I had was my small collection of Hot Wheels in one of my shoe boxes. I have no plans to get rid of them at all, but Amin wanted to see them and I decided to photograph them all. This means I now have a gallery of them, so, in theory, I could do a Marie Kondo and say good bye to them. I won’t though, they spark joy!

🏃➡️ I went back to the gym after another while without any desire to do so. I will admit, I just stuck to the staircase and the running machine because I figured that one reason I avoid the gym is having to wait around for my turn and for people who just leave stuff and go elsewhere. I’ve been thinking about just trying to commit and do proper excercise at home now, to be honest, maybe my mind is ready to accept that as the better choice and I just need to buy a mat or something because the floor is cold.

🎂 I was invited to a Quinceañera with my family on the weekend! However, I had been busy in the morning, the hour to go came all of a sudden, and I didn’t have enough time to get ready at all, my parents thought I knew and didn’t rush me and well, I ended up being the only guy not wearing dress pants—I still wore pants, of course. Nobody mentioned anything anyway though, but I wish I had dressed up better.
Gaming
No new games were purchased this week! Yes! Even though stuff like Hades 2 just came out, I’ve managed to be a good and responsible person and not buy a game when I don’t even have time for it anyway because I’m playing other stuff!
- Hollow Knight: Silksong - Not a lot of progress was made this time around, only playing around 4 hours this week. However, I did get the double jump at last! And explored a new area with it, such as the Memorium, I also reached a shop in the Blasted Steps, and found the way towards a very ugly looking area besides the Memorium that seems filled with nasty bugs.
- Slice & Dice - I finally got to spice this game up a bit by played a few of the other modes besides Classic. I played Blursed mode for a while and managed to win up to fight 72 on it, it was super fun and challenging in the best of ways! I also tried Blurtra a bit, but didn’t get as far just yet.
- Hyper Light Drifter ✨ - My friend who is actually good at this game showed up, and I decided to play this with him! It is such an interesting and atmospheric game. We only played it for about half an hour, but I feel like we made quite a bit of progress, finding our way through the game and fighting enemies!
- Super Mario Bros Wonder - I already finished this game, pretty much, but I had some friends come over who weren’t too familiar with gaming and I decided to put a multiplayer Mario game. We slowly went through some levels where I was missing Wonder Seeds or the big coins, and even found a couple secret areas.
- Ultimate Chicken Horse - Just a few runs of this party game to have fun with friends!
Reading
Who would have thought that I can actually read quite a bit if I set my mind to do it?
- Babylon’s Ashes ✨ - Up to chapter 16. I finally started the next book in The Expanse and I’ve managed to read quite a bit! This is pretty awesome stuff, I have to admit, because I’m already a third of the way into the story. I think reading the shorter Murderbot books have helped me fly through the chapters of this one, I don’t even notice and the chapter is already over, so I keep going!
- The Princess and the Goblin ✨ - Up to chapter 2. An old children’s book Amin mentioned that apparently hasn’t aged too well. A single chapter has been enough to let me know how bad it seems from a modern lens, and yet, the whimsical prose it has is rather charming, I don’t know if I’ll actually keep reading it but it’s about as short as a Murderbot novel so, maybe I will.
- Ariadne in the Blue Sky - Up to chapter 120. Some absolutely insane plot-twists have showed up now, like, completely changing the narrative of the story in a way I didn’t expect at all. I had some doubts from the early chapters but all of them had been shoved away by how the story developed, and now a lot of things are starting to make sense in a different way. Awesome stuff.
Watching
- Record of Ragnarok Season 2 ✨ - Up to episode 8. Not only did I managed to read a fair bit, I actually watching some anime for once. Record of Ragnarok is about the end of humanity as gods decide to destroy it. Except that they choose to make a tournament where the best of humanity faces against the gods, with the valkyries’ help. This season started rather interesting, as Heracles, who actually wants to save the humans, faces against Jack the Ripper, representing one of the worst aspects of humanity. In any case, these fights are just brainless fun and I quite enjoy the spectacle of them!
