Cleaning my room because of Hollow Knight - W38

Here are my weeknotes from September 16 to 22, 2025!

I recently realized that I really like to read week notes.

A few months ago, I kind of felt like they were filler, even as I wrote my own. However, there’s something really special about the format. It is super basic and you know what to expect almost every time (depending on the writer). I’ve actually been seeking them more than regular posts just because they are more comfy; a slice of life from someone on the other side of the screen.

When you read blog posts it’s a bit less narrative and there’s a need for more attention to the structure, the message, and the like (unless it’s a slice of life kinda thing too). A weeknote is just describing stuff that happened! Unless your intro is a micro-essay or whatever.

This was a fairly long week, but we got through it. A lot of stuff happened, there are some pretty rough, sad moments, but also the every day life that just keeps going because there is no time to stop.

There was only one post between my weeknotes. Absolutely preposterous! And I had quite a few ideas and sparks, but they didn’t manage to make it to the big screen—or whatever size the screen you’re reading this post from—because of my lazyness.

  • 🌮 My mom keeps preparing great lunch meals for me and I keep forgetting to bring them to work and she gets annoyed and I get annoyed at my own inability to just pick something from the table and put it inside my backpack.

  • 🚨 There was an earthquake drill across the whole country! September 19th is a pretty significant date in Mexico, given the amount of earthquakes at that exact date, it’s a bit of a bad omen. If nothing happens there’s a drill anyway just to remember previous years, and stay alert at all times. I don’t live in a dangerous zone, but it never hurts to get a 30 minute break at work.

  • 🛍️ Went shopping again with family, last time we did this I was quite melancholic about it, but this time was much better. I got a birthday gift for my mom, and we had a great time together. I still missed my siblings though, but gotta get used to it. Besides, I bought a game for one of them, and a dinner for the other!

  • 🗄️ I did a pretty exhaustive bedroom cleanup. Checking as many nooks and crannies—I originally wrote “crooks” but I’m glad I looked it up—I could find, throwing away a lot of trash—such as old packaging from the mail and things I bought—tidying up all the shoe boxes with boxes inside of them, relocating things and throwing away old clothes. The reason for all of this is honestly super random and childish. I simply want to find my Hollow Knight instruction manual and map poster that came with my physical edition of the game. So far, it’s nowhere to be found, but I will not give up!

  • 📦 I have been enslaved by package tracking numbers to know where stuff is going. The shirts I ordered a while back are on their way, as well as some YouTube merch I had ordered since May but never showed up (I sent an email and I was given the option to order the stuff again for free which was nice).

  • 🎧 I forgot one of my earphones at home last Friday, so I only had one of them at work, however, due to the earthquake drill, I left both my Kobo reader AND the earphones case (with the single earphone inside) inside a drawer. I completely forgot about this so I ended up returning home and only having a single little earphone and no way to read my books for a whole weekend. Thankfully, I still kept my previous pair and they still worked rather well—after finally getting them to charge.

  • 🛒 In yet another moment of weakness, I ordered like, a lot of enamel pins for a lot of stuff, from videogames, retro stuff and the like. I don’t even use pins, maybe the reason I don’t use pins is because I don’t have enough of them!—or that’s what my brain tells me. Will this change the course of my life? Maybe, maybe not, but at least I can gift them if everything goes wrong.

  • 🕹️ The muOS developers finally decided to bless me with the CANADA GOOSE update, that fully fixed the stuck at boot issues for me, and it has also been the fastest installation time ever, absolutely loving this thing now, no issues so far. Next week will definitely feature some awesome retro gaming, after all this time, I know you missed it guys!

  • 🕊️ A family we are friends with just lost their husband and father in a bike accident, his youngest child was riding in the same bike, he was miraculously unharmed. It was a sudden event that really changed how the weekend went for my family and my church. I hadn’t gone to a funeral that involved people we were so close to in a long time. Death truly is the last enemy. Events like these make me think about a lot of stuff, and how I deal with those thoughts is something I may write soon. Rest in peace.

Watching

I didn’t have a lot of time to watch TV this time around, but I’ll share some YouTube videos down below which I enjoyed!

  • Bon AppĂŠtit, Your Majesty ✨ - If you had told me I would end up watching a k-drama isekai fantasy about a modern chef going back in time and cooking for a tyrant king and falling in love, I would not have believed you for a second. I don’t actually care that much about this show but I did watch like half of a couple of episodes because my mom is eating this up. It’s kinda fun.

Reading

Due to my Kobo missing for a whole weekend, this is rather empty now, I wanted to start Babylon’s Ashes, but I failed successfully.

  • Rogue Protocol - I finished the book! But I haven’t written my review yet. It was great.
  • Chainsaw Man ✨ - Up to chapter 214. I knew a continuation of this manga started a while ago, so I finally returned to it and yeah, it’s definitely still Chainsaw Man. This is not a manga for everyone, it is gruesome and literally nobody is safe and any wholesome moment will probably be ruined by some demon or just because humans are being bad to each other. And yet, there’s just something about it that made me catch up to it in two days.
  • Ariadne in the Blue Sky - Up to chapter 100. Although Chainsaw Man rocked my world a bit, I still read a few chapters of this one. It’s still pretty good, and there are some new characters and a new town to visit that look pretty challenging to our protagonists, the current villain especially seems like a great threat! I hope it doesn’t disappoint.

Gaming

I actually for some reason kind of forgot to write this section. IT’S ALL SILKSONG WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY?

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong - Okay, I am still really enjoying this game, and I have faced some pretty awesome boss fights and some really tough as nails platforming segments that have been a challenge to get through. However, I manage to do it all, and I feel awesome afterwards. Right now I am stuck in a gauntlet against many hordes of enemies guarding the last fragment of a song I have to play to access some other place. I can’t wait to finally unlock the double jump at some point after 45 hours of playtime, maybe?.
  • Slice & Dice - Still awesome to play from time to time!

Around the web

This week I definitely spent a lot of time around the web!—see what I did there? woaaah!

Blog posts

Some blogposts just for you people! Featuring a new blogger joining the ranks!—you’ll know which when you see it.

  • Unapologetic Imperfection - Long live blogging about blogging (but really, this one is good). This is a meta-post about multiple posts and I enjoyed it!
  • Agreeing on Things is Love - A recent discovery, but this slice of life/reflection on life was pretty neat to me.
  • A Confession - Dave started a blog! I REPEAT, Dave started a blog! Who cares what it is about? IT’S A BLOG BY DAVE. Who’s Dave? Just read the BLOG POST.
  • Response to The Worst Community Report Podcast: Blogging - Naty answered some of the questions that showed up in the podcast I showed up on!
  • Free Speech Basics - This was a pretty thought-provoking piece related to some events that happened. Yeah, it’s political (you know) but I think it’s quite good.
  • Commercials - I hate ads, who doesn’t hate them? But I have some fond memories of old commercials, specially action figures (Remember Max Steel? Probably not because americans didn’t care) narrated by the same iconic voice, describing the adventures I’d have if I bought that toy set. Good times.

Videos

You can tell I didn’t have a Kobo with me for a weekend because of how much YouTube I watched (that’s not actually the reason, I just want to pretend it is the reason).
