Blaugust 2025 is over! But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop writing or anything, it’s just back to a more normal bloggin schedule of “once every week at least, more if I feel like it.” I kind of want to keep going daily, because I kind of can, but I’ll not get too worried about it. l
I had already written 31 posts in a month, but it was nice to try again, and I think quite a few of my posts this time were quite good, if I do say some myself. And all the replies and the emails I got were just awesome!
Anyway, here are some weeknotes!
-
📱 This is also the end of my break from the fediverse. I pretty much only posted my blogposts, but other than that, I kept interactions to a minimum, and scrolling through the timeline to zero, by uninstalling the app on my phone and never going beyond the publishing screen and my notifications.

🪡 I am so excited for Silksong to come out in just a few days, I will be definitely buying it day one, I literally finished Hollow Knight because of it.
-
🛠 Assembled my new shelving unit! After looking it up, the one I got from Costco is from the O’nin brand, and it is similar to IKEA’s KALLAX series. The general opinion seems to be that they are better and more sturdy than IKEA’s offering, if more more expensive. Given how well the one I’ve had for a year has held up, the price is completely worth it to me. Now that I got two, I have more ways to organize my room, but it’s still a little messy right now.
-
🍨 Some friends came to visit and we went downtown, ate some elotes and some of us also got ice cream. It was really fun to hang out for a bit.
-
👕 Because I’ve been organizing my drawers and my closet, I’ve been getting rid of some old clothes I no longer use, or that, umm, no longer fit me. It’s pretty nice either way because I’ve decluttered quite a bit!
-
🧑💻 A new version of MuOS released for my Anbernic RG35XXSP, I did the update, and sadly, it’s kind of borked. The device will get stuck in the boot logo the whole time. I have to wait for an update because apparently the booting sequence gets stuck due to WiFi card issues, and will require a new update to flash.
-
🖋️ I finally had time to design and contribute to the Arcticons Icon Pack once again, only like 5 apps but still something!
-
🏠 Played Betrayal at House on the Hill again, and the scenario we got was very fun! I got to control a Dragon that came to life from my own definitely not twisted imagination, and since my evil companions wanted to kill it, I had to kill them first. Unfortunately, I ended up helping them to find the items they needed by accident, they killed me and stole my goods, I could still control the Dragon but they managed to win. RIP.
Gaming
This week was crazy when it comes to games, but don’t worry, in reality most of them were only played for an hour or less, except for Slice & Dice, Ridge Racer 2 and FTL.
Completed
- 🪡 Hollow Knight - I beat the game! reached credits and 100% completions. I pretty much only had to beat the boss, which took me like 20 minutes of attempts. I didn’t beat Radiance and all that jazz though, but that’s fine, I want to play Silksong. Review coming soon.
Ongoing
-
🎲 Slice & Dice ✨ - Welp, this game just took over my life and is refusing to let go. Such a simple premise, executed to perfection, I shall play this game until the end of times. Thanks again Sotolf…, no but actually, I also have two other real life friends who are just as crazy for it, or even more than me. Apparently there are even mods and you can program your own characters and your own bosses and dice. My friend sent a custom boss and I managed to beat it, which was fun. I am mostly sticking to the classic mode though, and getting more and more achievements without even realizing it!
-
🏫 The Hundred Line - This game really got to the point where the battles aren’t that interesting compared to the visual novel side of it. They kind of feel like puzzles that you already know the solution for, but you have to execute each step and it’s kind of slow. However the latest one was a very interesting change, so maybe it’s just a phase. We’ll see how it goes!
-
👾 Faster Than Light ✨ - Did more than a couple runs on this one, for the same reasons as above. This game is incredible, but I suddenly got terrible at it in the end. Still, a fantastic gem you should try out!
-
🏎️ Ridge Racer 2 - I think I kind of beat the game here too? I am still in the PRO courses and I reached the credits! I loved when the commentator sais that I AM THE RIDGE RACER. The next courses have been one on one races against special cars, and they’ve been quite challenging! After them I think I’ll unlock an extra tour tier.
-
🌋 Hades - Literally just a short run that I started to see how I felt about addint it to my Top 25 Games, but the interesting tidbit was the chatter I had with some characters, the fact that there’s still a lot of plot to go through is just so interesting to me.
-
🎶 Lumines Remastered ✨ - I did a couple matches of this one, just to see how I felt about it when I added to my honorable mentions, what a game this is!
-
🧙♂️ Final Fantasy VI - After updating my Anbernic handheld to MuOS Goose , I decided to go back to this game for a bit! I fought a boss and made some small progress. However, since the device didn’t work well after the update, I don’t want to play mure while the OS is unreliable.
-
🐴 Ultimate Chicken Horse - Just a few rounds of this party game with friends.
Watching
I wanted to watch Alien Earth too but it will have to wait for tomorrow.
-
👽🪐 Alien: Covenant - Continuing with my journey through the Alien film, this one was kind of cool. It’s a return to form in a way, but it’s also filled with played out ideas and you can see everything coming from a mile away, also way too much random blood at times. Whatever, I rather enjoyed it anyway! Michael Fassbender definitely carrying the movie here.
-
👽🛰️ Alien: Romulus - The latest of the Alien movies! It felt like an amalgamation of every previous movie so far, it was kind of a mess but I was also way more terrified during many of the sequences, compared to the previous two movies, which were more disgusting rather than actually unnerving.
Reading
I actually didn’t read Manga at all this time, only books, only words, what a concept!
-
🚀 Nemesis Games - Up to chapter 42. I read a bit more of this for once! The stakes keep getting higuer, some incredible writing right here and right here. I really gotta just fly through the next chapters in one sitting, this is getting good. I have no idea how the protagonists will come out of this mess now honestly!
-
🤖 All Stystems Red - Up to chapter 2. Yep, I started The Murderbot Diaries, and so far pretty good! I got the series from the Humble Bundle featuring Martha Well’s books. I may finish it in just a couple more days. Today I realized Kev just read it too, and Amin is almost done with the series, evil stuff.
Around the web
I really, really didn’t read a lot of blogposts this time around, but well, it’s been a relatively chill day at work so I’ve managed to pick some stuff today on a whim.
- Dealing with Book dissapointment - This has never happened to me, actually, I guess I should be happy for that.
- I Finally Understand Why Stars Exist in Apps - quite literally what I use them for too.
- Joel’s Top 25 Games Of All Time - After my Top 25 Games post, Wouter wrote a reply/analysis/comparison with his own Top 25 games. Actually really interesting.
- keep your stuff accessible - It turns out that link rot is actually a thing, the internet actually forgets a lot, Backup, federate, do not depend on others, or do, with care.
- Em Dashes - I am so angry about this, almost as soon as I discovered em dashes, AI comes along and ruins them. But like David, I refuse. I’ve been using em dashes for a while, and I will keep doing so, I don’t care!
- re: Publish once, syndicate nowhere Read this and the original post, I might write something related soon.
- I use passive-aggressive emojis ✍️ - I knew of this already but it’s funny when the grown-ups (I’m not one of those I swear) learn about it. 🙂
