Finished The Expanse, back to Outer Wilds - W32

With Blaugust running wild, and me posting almost daily, I don’t know what to mention here on this intro that is super interesting. Just go and check my posts! They are pretty fun. Here are some of the small things that aren’t enough for a full blogpost, or maybe they are, we’ll see. My weeknotes, From August 4 to 11, 2026.

• 🍔 Went for some burguers with my family on a weekend, it was a very busy Saturday and we didn’t get to go shopping or watch a movie or anything, just going out to have some food. It was nice though.

• 🌧️ The days continued to be quite rainy. So much so one day my the roof’s drainage got overwhelmed when some leaves covered it, and I had to go up there and clean it all up, I also had to mop up the floor below, some things got ruined by the water, but nothing of irreplaceable.

• 🚲 One again, I didn’t really go to the gym this week. The buses are filled with people during these couple weeks becuse of some summer events. However, I did ride my bike to the gym on Saturday morning, which was rather pleasant!

• ⚽ Once again I have been following Mexico’s progress on the Centro Caribe Sports. Mexico won 407 medals (167 were gold medals!). The Men got silver in football while Women got gold. I also followed the U-20 CONCACAF Cup, which Mexico won against the US, yay!

• 🕹️ Decided to buy an adaptor for my 8Bitdo Pro 2 controller to attach my phone to it! that would open up some possibilities for emulation of PSP, PS2, GameCube and whatever my phone can handle, that should be fun to see, whenever I set it all up…

• 🍟 I have to admit I bought a fair amount of snacks since earlier in the week my parents went away once again. That plus not going to the gym means I went up by 2 kilos which isn’t very great…

Reading

My promise to read more has been fulfilled, I finished a book and returned to a magazine! I also read like half of the book of Joshua on my Bible, heavy stuff.

Completed

• Leviathan Falls - Chapter 32-Epilogue. It is done, just as I promised, I managed to complete this book. The last of The Expanse series. Leviathan Falls tells us the grand finale of the Rocinante crew as they try to put an end to the greatest treat against Humanity as we know it. This was a very crazy journey with a lot of things going on. I am rather satisfied with the ending, though some things felt a bit messy, some questions were never answered, and things were a bit sad. The authors still managed to bring closure despite the huge stakes, and I am honestly very impressed by this. Now I don’t know what should be my next big thing, ugh…

Ongoing

• Clarkesworld Magazine #211 - I decided to returned to this magazine, and finished three of the works included there. The Rambler by Shen Dacheng, Occurrence at O1339 by Kelly Jennings and The Oldest Fun by Natalia Theodoridou. That only leaves the non-fiction articles. I am unsure of what to do about them since I kinda just want to keep on reading fiction. Should I just mark and finished and move on? I’ll give a try to the first one and see.

• Centuria - Chapters 39-47. There have been some very interesting developments, an unexpected new friend for the main party and some nameless enemies for the hero to fight. There’s a big unknown villain coming up so I’m interested to see that play out.

• Blue Lock - Chapter 355-356. England vs Japan is not going well for the Blue Lock team. The challenge is up and the stakes are high!

Gaming

• Outer Wilds - It is true. I have finally returned to this masterpiece, and it really is as if I never left. I was rereading some of the logs, rethreading some steps, and even making new discoveries involving a certain species of a very big fish, trying to understand how a very weird moon behaves, and some other things.

• Super Mario 3D World - After getting some collectibles last time, we decided to progress through new levels on the last world! There is a lot of lava and plenty of new challenges, but we’ve managed to find all the stars and stickers in the collection, so that’s pretty cool!

• Risk of Rain Returns - Most of my friends had to leave early from our weekend gaming time, but one stayed and we decided to pick this back up! It was more manageable in two player due to the camera behaving better. We tried to make it to the 3rd stage and were unable to though. Also this game kinda made me sleepy for some reason?

• Fire Emblem Awakening - I am in a bit of pickle here, since I need to do a chapter that seems rather hard to complete unscathed. For now, I’ve done some more levelling up with some characters and plan to keep going!

• Donkey Kong ‘94 - I played much less this week during my commute, mostly because of my focus on reading, but still managed to complete world 4 and progress through some of world 5!

• Raising the bar - It looks like the submissions to be added to Blogroll.org have been flooded with AI and marketing slop. I hope Manuel figures a good solution!

• Old people aren’t tech savvy - Thomas deals with a common misconception of today, which I thought was true, but this post offers a different perspective.

• I Took an Amazon Tribesman to the World’s Most Futuristic City - This was very interesting to see and quite eye-opening too.

• The Pleasures of Talking Nonsense with Someone We Love - Relationship goals but also very interesting and it makes a lot of sense.

• Is This Peak Hot-Weather Urbanism? - Amin shared this one and it was pretty awesome to see the design of Singapore’s urban areas.

• The Deadliest Weapon of the Ancient World - The sling is apparently super effective!

• Ukulele that transforms into a guitar mid-performance - How did the strings stay in tune though?

• My Favorite Game For Every Year - I think I have played enough games to be able to do a post like this video, coming soon?
